Game Mechanics

Refined Sand

Putting sand into a refiner results in refined sand. There are 6 levels of refined sand, but there is no visual indicator that tells you which it is (except for the last level, which is called Fully Refined Sand).

Refined Sand

Each level of refinement requires half as many refiners as the previous level. Once you have fully refined sand, refine it 8 more times to get to diamond.

In total, it takes 2^14 = 16384 sand to make one diamond, costing 65536 copper

At level 7, you can buy Quartz Ore which refines into crude shard. Using this method, the crude shard costs 44000/80 = 550 copper each. Compare that to refining from sand, which costs 4*2^7 = 512

Note: Use the Diamond Calculator to determine how many diamonds per day you can make

Reputation

Reputation

Your shop's reputation can be found at the top of your screen with the star icon. The higher it is, the more customers will come and make purchases at your shop.

  • When a customer finds a product they are looking for, reputation increases
  • When a customer cannot find a product they are looking for, reputation decreases.
  • Reputation has a minimum of 0 and a maximum of 100.
  • Try to keep most of the items stocked in order to keep your reputation high.

Daily Quests

Each day at 6:00, your mailbox will have another quest for you to complete. There are 3 types:

  • Random Quests: Expire in 3 days (72 real-world minutes) and give 130% market price
  • Bulk Quests: Expire in 5 days (120 real-world minutes) and give 160% market price
  • Urgent Quests: Expire in 1 day (24 real-world minutes) and give 200% market price

Note: Quests are an excellent source of income because they boost your profit margins significantly.

Heating System

Heating is required to run any devices that have a heat consuming speed.

How Heating Works:

  • Each device has a heat consumption rate (heat_consuming_speed)
  • Heat must be continuously supplied during production
Total Heat Needed = (Heating Device Speed + Production Device Speed) × Time (seconds)

Note: Use the Heating Calculator to determine how many heating devices you need for your production setup.

Herb Growing

Herbs are grown using nutrients (sand, clay, or growth potion) and can be enhanced with fertilizer efficiency.

Nutrient System:

  • Sand: Provides 72 nutrient value per unit (medium cost, slowest)
  • Clay: Provides 432 nutrient value per unit (cheapest cost, medium speed)
  • Growth Potion: Provides 3600 nutrient value per unit (highest cost, fastest)

Fertilizer Efficiency:

Fertilizer efficiency can be researched up to level 8, providing a bonus to nutrient value:

Effective Nutrient Value = Base Nutrient Value × (1 + Fertilizer Level × 0.1)

For example, at Fertilizer Level 5, sand provides 72 × 1.5 = 108 nutrient value per unit.

Production Speed:

Herbs per Minute = (Nutrient Value × 10 × Device Speed Multiplier) / Nutrients Required

Note: Use the Herb Calculator to compare costs and production rates for different nutrients and fertilizer levels.

Cost Calculation

Item costs in Alchemy Factory are calculated based on three components:

  • Material Cost (mat-cost): The total cost of all raw materials and sub-components needed to craft the item
  • Heat Needed (heat-needed): The total amount of heat required during production
  • Total Cost: Material cost plus heat cost
Total Cost = Material Cost + (Heat Needed / 20)

Heat is divided by 20 because it represents the conversion from heat units to copper cost.

Recipe Selection:

When multiple recipes can produce the same item, the cost calculator automatically selects the cheapest recipe based on total cost.

Device Production Speed

Device production speed can be researched to increase the speed of all production devices.

Speed Bonus:

  • Each level provides a +25% production speed bonus
  • Can be researched up to level 8
  • Affects all production devices simultaneously
Effective Production Speed = Base Speed × (1 + Device Speed Level × 0.25)

For example, at Device Speed Level 4, production runs at 100% + 100% = 200% speed (twice as fast).

Currency System

Alchemy Factory uses a three-tier currency system:

  • Copper: Base currency unit (1 copper)
  • Silver: 1 silver = 1,000 copper
  • Gold: 1 gold = 100,000 copper (100 silver)

All calculations on this site use copper as the base unit for consistency.

Experience (EXP) System

As you level up in Alchemy Factory, the EXP required to reach the next level increases. The graph below shows the cumulative EXP required to reach each level from 0 to 150.

EXP Growth Pattern:

  • EXP requirements grow gradually at lower levels
  • Growth accelerates significantly at higher levels
  • Level 150 requires 231,461 total EXP
